Stinger

Here’s another genius two ingredient cocktail. The Stinger! This unique combination of Armagnac and crème de menthe is a classic cocktail invented in 1890.

Ingredients & Preparation
  • 60 ml Marquis de Montesquiou Armagnac VS
  • 22 ml White Crème de Menthe
  • 1 pc. Mint sprig

Stir all ingredients with ice and strain into a glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish it with a mint sprig. À votre santé!

French Connection

Arguably the easiest cocktail on the planet, this slow-sipper features Armagnac and Amaretto in a perfect pairing. Serve it over ice and you’ve got a simple but sophisticated drink.

Ingredients & Preparation
  • 45 ml Marquis de Montesquiou Armagnac VS
  • 22 ml Amaretto
  • 1 pc. Dried orange wheel

Stir all ingredients with ice and strain into an ice filled glass. Garnish the drink with a lemon zest. À votre santé!

Sidecar

Probably The most classic Cognac cocktail of all time. The Sidecar! This classic cocktail hails from the early 1900’s and is a relative of the classic margarita.

Ingredients & Preparation
  • 60 ml Marquis de Montesquiou Armagnac VS
  • 30 ml Lemon juice
  • 30 ml Orange liquor
  • 1 pc. Orange wheel

Add the Marquis de Montesquiou, orange liqueur and lemon juice to a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled. Strain into the prepared glass. Garnish with an orange twist. À votre santé.

The Sazerac

If you love stiff or spirit-forward drinks like the Old Fashioned, this one is definitely for you. But instead of “just” whisky and a sugar cube, the Sazerac has a surprise element. It’s also the official drink of New Orleans and one of the oldest cocktails there is.

Ingredients & Preparation
  • 60 ml Marquis de Montesquiou Armagnac VS
  • 3 ml Absinth
  • 1 pc. Sugar cube
  • 3 dashes Peychaud’s Bitters
  • 1 pc. Lemon twist

Rinse a chilled glass with the absinthe, fill with crushed ice and set aside. Add the Marquis de Montesquiou, simple syrup and bitters into a mixing glass with ice and stir. Discard the ice and any excess absinthe from the prepared glass, and strain the drink into the glass. Garnish with the peel. À votre santé.

The Gascon Margarita

Why not trying something new, hey? An Armagnac-based margarita, perhaps? Pairing Armagnac with aged tequila, lime, and orange liqueur makes for a seriously sophisticated drink. In fact, it tastes like a combination of a classic Sidecar and a margarita!

Ingredients & Preparation
  • 60 ml Marquis de Montesquiou Armagnac VS
  • 30 ml Tequila silver
  • 30 ml Triple sec
  • 20 ml Simple syrup
  • 20 ml Lime juice
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 pc. Lime wheel

Take a lime and cut it into fourths. Take one wedge and rub the rim of your glass with the juice of your lime. Place the top of your glass in salt to rim and garnish your glass. Set aside. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add Marquis de Montesquiou Armagnac, tequila, triple sec, sugar syrup and lime juice. Shake vigorously. Pour into a cocktail glass, garnish with a lime wedge. Vieux Carre

If you love Manhattans or Old Fashioneds, it’s pretty safe to say you’re going to love this one, too. The Vieux Carre is another classic cocktail from Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans: strong, very strong, and alcohol-forward – a true wallbanger.

Ingredients & Preparation
  • 30 ml Marquis de Montesquiou Armagnac VS
  • 30 ml Horse With No Name Bourbon
  • 30 ml Red Vermouth
  • 10 ml D.O.M. Bénédictine
  • 2 dashes Peychaud's Bitters
  • 2 dashes Aromatic Bitters
  • 1 pc. Lemon twist

Add Marquis de Montesquiou Armagnac, Horse With No Name Bourbon, sweet vermouth, Benedictine and bitters into a mixing glass with ice and stir until well-chilled. Strain into a glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a lemon twist. À votre santé.

Milk Punch

A Milk Punch is a drink made with brandy, milk, sugar, and vanilla extract that was first written down in Scotland in 1688. How’s that for history? It’s also a popular brunch drink in New Orleans and other parts of the American South.

Ingredients & Preparation
  • (For 4 drinks)
  • 230 ml Marquis de Montesquiou Armagnac VS
  • 660 ml Milk
  • 3 tbsps. Powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla extract
  • 1 dash Grated nutmeg

Add the Marquis de Montesquiou Armagnac, milk, powdered sugar and vanilla extract to a blender filled with ice and blend for 20 seconds. Taste, and add more sugar if desired. Double-strain the mixture into four glasses filled with crushed ice. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg. À votre santé.

Metropolitan

Just as gin has the Martini and whiskey has the Manhattan, brandy has the Metropolitan. The Metropolitan sounds and looks like a classic cocktail, and it is often called a Brandy Manhattan or a Harvard, though those tend to skip the syrup.

  • 60 ml Marquis de Montesquiou Armagnac VS
  • 30 ml Sweet vermouth
  • 0.5 tsp. Simple syrup
  • 2 dashes Aromatic bitters

Add Marquis de Montesquiou Armagnac, sweet vermouth, simple syrup and bitters into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled glass. À votre santé.

Brandy Alexander

It’s sweet, but not too sweet. The simple recipe finds a perfect balance between just three ingredients. It’s retro, but really timeless. Only the hardest cases could resist the charms of this creamy, frothy delight. That’s a dare.
